Transformable shelves Beginning of the 20th Century
From an artist studio, this amazing shelf / table was used to prepare and arrange
the brushes and pigments. It is in tainted and waxed ash, with five shelves and
six degrees of transformations. Metal structure and mechanics activated by pushing
a bolt on the side. Some unevenness on the table top.
Stamped: 'Manufactured by Boeckh Bros Company, Toronto, Canada - Patented 1896
1897 1898'
Charles Boeckh was born in Alsace (France) in 1817 and emigrated to New York
at the age of 32 where founded a painter's brushes factory. He opens a branch
in Toronto in 1856 and three years later he retrieves there all his activities.
