Ombredanne Model Anesthesia Mask Early 20th Century

 
Professor Ombredanne ether device in its rosewood cabinet and with its original notice by the House Charriere - Collin & Co.

Nickel plated steel, complete set with 2 rubber masks (hardened by time) and its original never used pig's bladder (uncut end). There is a very slight depression on the sphere, visible in the photos.

Sphere diameter 11 cm, length with the bladder approximately 40 cm.
 
Louis Ombredanne (1871-1956) is the inventor in 1908 of the first ether inhaler for control of the fraction of inspired ether. This equipment has been predominant in the practice of anesthesia in Europe for over fifty years. The anesthesiologist inserts his thumbs in the rings of the mask to hold both the mask and the jaw of the patient. Then the graduations were increased and therefore the amount of the inhaled ether.
